I just got XP and want to replace my Windows 98 Operating
System. I think it's better to uninstall 98 first. How
do I do that?

Check the setup documents on the XP CD, Shannon. There's also directions in
for a clean install in the XP manual. And here's a link to a page that
covers the topic very well:

Basically, the partition with Win98 will be obliterated to make it ready
for XP. Keep in mind that programs and personal data on this partition will
be removed too. Programs will need to be reinstalled and data files moved
off to another location. If you bought the XP upgrade package, you'll also
need a Win98 CD on hand to insert in the cdrom drive when prompted.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD and follow the prompts for a
clean installation. It will do the reformat for you.
