In a single W2K domain environment with three servers, I'm
planning on replacing the original DC with a new server.
Is there any issues that I should be aware of? Or is it
as simple as adding the new server to the network and then
removing the old server?

Your reply is greatly appreciated.

If you are using dhcp you will have to make sure that it is changed so that
clients will get the ip address of the new domain controller for dns. Also
initially you will have to configure the new domain controller to point to
the existing dc for it's dns before the dcpromo process to promote it but
after it is up and running as a domain controller have it point to itself.
You also will need to make the new domain controller a global catalog server
[using AD Sites and Sevices] and then dcpromo the old domain controller to
demote it and it will automagically transfer fsmo roles to the new domain
controller. I would also run netdiag and dcdiag on the new domain controller
to make sure it is operating correctly as a domain controller. --- Steve
