Since this computer has started making terrible noises and isn't acting
quite right I fear a replacement will soon be required. This computer has
the cable modem and wireless router set up to it. I did not set up either
of these things, had it done for me. Am I in for big problems trying to get
everything to work when the time does come for replacement

David

Terrible noises could just be from a clogged up CPU and/or case fan.. a
0.5in domestic paintbrush or compressed air canister can sort that out..

Other problems can generally be sorted out too.. if you feel like reposting,
we might be able to save you some $$$$..

i had a noisy fan on a video card that drove me nuts for a while.

what kind of noise is it making?

Just curious; how does a CPU get clogged up? Too much data?

"clogged up CPU and/or case FAN" is better English than "CPU fan and/or case
fan".. I was always taught not to repeat words if unnecessary

"Clogged up fan on CPU and/or case" follows your own rule, whilst allowing
no possibility of misunderstanding for novices ... Mike, I'm not a Tick, but
please accept that split adjectives is often the cause of mis-understanding,
even more so customers whose first language is not English.
(in your phrase, both CPU and CASE are adjectives describing the subject
"fan(s)" )
Apols.
Sincerely, Len

I was educated within the hallowed walls of an English Public School.. I
find it difficult to drop my standards of written and spoken English.. I
guess that, given time, I could adapt my use of English and spelling to more
accommodate other English users around the world, particularly the
incumbents of North America, but it would aggravate me and my spell
checker..

I'm not a "Tick", meant no offence. I read and learn from your valuable
contributions. On this one solitary occasion the good advice given was
misunderstood by the novice recipient, thus resulting in further post to
clarify. I apologise unreservedly - I did understand what you meant. He
didn't.
Sorry, again, Len.
