Replacing IDE drive causes 0x7B stop code.

Greetings --

I have a Win/2k system running with 2 IDE drives configured master/
slave.

The master drive is partitioned with a "primary" (the boot drive) and
a logical in an extended partition both are formated NTFS

The slave is a extended with 2 logicals -- both are formated FAT32.

I replaced the slave drive with a new one (bigger) and and booted the
system and it got to the win2k splash screen and
the stopped with 0x7B

If I boot the machine in DOS, the BIOS has no problem finding the
drives

master/boot drive was not changed or altered with the swap of the
slave drive -- has anyone come across this issue?
 
Although not common the system partition may have been on the disk that was
replaced.

You can try a boot disk. For the floppy to successfully boot Windows 2000
the disk must contain the "NT" boot sector. Format a diskette (on a Windows
2000 machine, not a DOS/Win9x, so the NT boot sector gets written to the
floppy), and copy Windows 2000 versions of ntldr, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini
to it. Edit the boot.ini to give it a correct ARC path for the machine you
wish to boot. Below is an example of boot.ini. The default is to start the
operating system located on the first partition of the primary or first
drive (drive0). Then drive0 partition 2 and so on.

I don't think is an issue on which drive is the boot drive ... i
assembled the pc ...

The system boot's with the win/2k splash screen with the indicator at
the bottom ...
It all mosts gets to the login screen, but stops with the 0x7b code

At this point restore the os on to another drive and try tweeking the
registery to see if it come up
 
I think the boot disk would be much easier to try at this point.
