Is there an 'Offical' way to replace a system DLL
I have valid reason to do so but the Windows File Protection prevents me
from doing so.
I know of a couple of 'Work Arounds'.... Just wondered if anyone knew of the
offical stance ?

Use the following procedure to correct Windows XP system files.

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. In the resulting
Command Prompt window, type: SFC /SCANNOW , and hit enter.
You may be prompted to insert your Windows CD in the CD Drive.

SFC = System File Checker. SFC will scan your system and replace
missing or damaged XP system files with the correct version.

exisitng system dll with the dll i have.
Basically want to overwrite an exisitng system dll with a differet version.

.
Jason, don't know if my problem is connected but if you
get an answer to your query would appreciate any news. i
can't download updates because i apparently failed to
check the "Yes" when initially asked the "Always trust
Microsoft " question. Now it seems .dll files are
not "usually available" to download. Think it sounds
similar to your problem in that respect but can't find
out how to put it right.
posted my query in ACCESSIBILITY Newsgroup a few minutes
ago - subject : wintrust.dll 5.131.2600.0

Not much use to you perhaps but will inform you if I hear
anything in response. Good hunting
