trying to be honest I purchased a second copy of
macafee for another computer in the house.

great! my email is registered with macafee on one
computer but they will not let me use my email with
the second computer.

I want to trash this junk software that seems to come
its its own popups. I'm also tired of buying a new
copy for each computer in the house each year when the
dat files can nolonger be downloaded to get updates

any suggestions appreciated

I have F-Prot for Windows, which is an excellent product. You still
have to pay an annual fee for the dat files, but it is well worth it.
No popups, no bloat, jst fast, effective protection.

have a look at http://www.frisk.is

AVG6 Free works well on most systems. Light on resources, and has good
detection if you keep it updated, which is true of any AV. I also use
F-Prot as a backup AV. F-Prot works from DOS instead of Windows. It's a
very good program.

AVG6 Free:

I am sure there are lots of others here with varying opinions and they'll be
happy to promote their fav programs. :-)

avast for home is very good and also free for personal use

thanks everyone

I downloaded the free AVG to try first. If it does not work I'll try
the others. It appears to have an auto-update. It found a backdoor on
the system I was trying to install macafee on.

I also got a copy of the Norton product as an exchange when returning
macafee to compusa.

I'm currently exchanging emails with macafee tech support. They can't
seem to understand that someone might have more than one computer. They
must be located in Delhi

Ok you have returned it but if I understand correct you bought 2 copies but
cannot register with same email address.

If that is your issue I will pass it onto mcaffee in the US so others do not
get this issue. If you have issue post them on the relevant forum help we
will try to help.

When registering, click the "already a user" link and login with the email
address you used when registering. That will allow both to update so our
tech says
