My HP 970CSE is only printing one color( blue)from the tri color
cartridge. I have put in a new cartridges I have run all the
recommended tests, cleaned it using the software tools, and cleaned the
cartridge contacts and carriage contacts. It still only prints one
color. BTW black is OK.
Any ideas as to what may be going on?
BTW HP customer service was next to useless. I do not even think the
CS department in the USA any longer. I guess Carley needed more money
for herself.
Is it worth getting repaired?
I have had 4 HP printers and all of them are sill working well,
except for the 970.
If I find out it is not worth getting it fixed, what new HP printer is
comparable to the 970?

Even in Tennessee, I don't think it is worthwhile repairing! Maybe a little
'shine through the nozzles will help? (j/k, I was born in Ken-tuck)

If you're looking for color photo capability, there are some great option
for under $200 now. Some of these (Canon i960, etc) are not so great at
text. I suggest you consider keeping the HP for B/W documents and enjoying
one of the new color printers.

Being a cheap, former Kentuckian, I just ordered a Canon S820 for $50 that
does 6-color (CcMmYK) printing that will supplement my HP 930. I hope to
lower my color printing costs dramatically. If the Canon text is not
acceptable, the HP will be kept for b/w.

Strange that the same has happend to my Hp 940 It just will not print the
Magenta no matter how much cleaning and the cart's are at 60%,
And it's not worth getting it repaired so i got a canon i860 and boy is that
fast and uses 5 carts which should be a lot cheaper that the one cart for
the hp..

The symptom you describe is generally caused by a cartridge that is very old.
Check the expiration date on your cartridge as shown at the following:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpa02014.html If the
cartridge is beyond its warranty date you need a fresh color cartridge.
If the cartridge is still in its warranty period contact HP or your dealer for
a replacement.

You can verify that the cartridge is the problem by carefully blotting the
printhead on a soft, damp, lint-free cloth. If you see a stripe of
cyan rather than three stripes (cyan, magenta and yellow) it is a
clear indication that the cartridge is the problem.

When buying a new cartridge be sure to look for the "install by" date on the
package. I would look for cartridges with at least six months left before the
"install by" date.

I have recently inherited an HP LaserJet 2100 TN. It's about two and a
half years old and has a 5,219 page count.

It seems to work fine but I see that toner has been deposited on many of
the inside surfaces. (We also have a 4M and a 4500 which this does not
occur with.)

Is this a common problem with the 2100 or is it just mine? Should I worry
that toner is also being sprayed into the room air?

I would suspect that your toner cartridge has sprung a leak, does it
appear to leave a deposit on the paper, or you have a fuser fault and
it's not fuseing the toner properly.

Never come across a 2100 or 2200 with this problem.

YES, until the problem is cured don't use that printer.
