Replaced Memory, Slow Response

Hello,

I just replaced my memory cards in my computer. I also just upgraded to
Windows XP Pro SP2. Now, everything on my computer is slow. It is as though
there is a 5 second delay to everything. Mouse movements, opening files,
entering text.

I am not sure if the problem is due to memory, or some configuration on
Windows. The memory was a 1Gig for 1Gig swap out.

Any ideas... this is so frustrating and makes it almost impossible to work.

What kind of a menory upgrade did you do? 1 gig for 1 gig sure does say
much. Not knowing any more I would say to swap back that first.
 
My memory sticks went bad. I keep getting memory errors. I had two PC2700
512 Meg memory sticks in my computer. So I went out and purchased two new
PC2700 512 Meg memory sticks. I took out the old ones and put in the new
ones.

Since then, I have been getting no memory errors, but my computer is running
dog slow. Everything takes at least 5 seconds.

It's possible that them memory you purchased is a) not compatible or b) not
bad but not really good either. What brand is it.

Try booting with one stick at a time until you have tried all four sticks.
If you are having the same trouble with each stick then you most likely do
not have a ram problem. If you do have problems with the new sticks then you
may have the wrong memory. Recheck it or try another dealer for a different
brand.
