replaced main board .. now pc blue screens on boot

i know this is caused by the presense of a different
chipset on the board from when the software was originally
installed and is by design..... but does anyone know a way
to get around this problem.

Go to support.microsoft.com, and search for "moving to new hardware."

in-place upgrade... also known as a refresh-install. google for "in place
upgrade 2000" for more information

Normally, unless the new motherboard is virtually identical to the
old one (same chipset, IDE controllers, etc), you'll most likely need
to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at the
very least (and don't forget to reinstall any service packs and
subsequent hot fixes):
