Brad

I am fairly new to Access and I have a limited amount of experience with
Access 2007 Reports.

We are considering replacing a document that is produced in Word with an
Access Report. The main reason for considering this is that the data that is
printed on the document is now going to be stored in Access.

The current Word document is fairly simple, but a portion of it has nice
looking boxes which contain specific data. I will try to illustrate with
text here (Make believe that the lines form nice solid boxes).

It would be nice to keep the new appearance as close to the old format as is
possible.

The question I have really boils down to “How fancy can an Access report be?â€

Perhaps there are some examples on the internet that you could point me to.

Thanks for any ideas that may help guide me in the right direction.

Steve,

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

The challenge that I face is that not all of the users have Word and some
have different versions of Word.

I was hoping to use the Run-Time option of Access and eliminate Word from
the picture for this function.

I have done some experimenting with Access Reports, but I have not been able
to discover how to make “fancier†output documents. I was hoping that
perhaps someone with more experience with Access Reports would have some
examples posted on the internet.

Sincerely,

Brad

Steve,

Thanks for the help. I was not aware of the Line Method. I experimented
with it a little bit. I think that it may work, but it looks like it is
going to take a lot of time and experimenting to add the 20+ boxes that I
need on each page of the report.

I also experimented with the Rectangle Control in Report Design Tools. This
is real easy to work with, but it covers up text boxes. I was hoping to find
a transparent option, but no luck.

Then I stumbled upon the “Border Style†for both Labels and Text-Boxes. By
setting the border style to solid, I can easily accomplish what I want to do.
Boy do I ever feel stupid! I think that I was simply making this issue a
lot more complicated than it is.

Thanks again for your help. Your suggestion lead to additional experiments
which in the end resulted in a discovery that I think will work nicely.
