Hi,
Im refering to the knowledge base article
217440 ."Microsoft Excel requires file OLEAUT32.DLL to
run. The version of OLEAUT32.DLL that is on your computer
is older than the one required by this version of
Microsoft Excel."

I had try the first 2 method and it still dont work. I
would like to know how i can replace the oleaut32.dll from
my windows CD to my harddisk . I had try starting up using
bootdisk but i cant locate my oleaut32.dll which i had
copy to my c:\ from my disk. Since we cant replace in the
OS level, how do it do it then ??? I had try repair window
2k but still dont work.

Thanks

I got an excel problem and it require me to replace the
oleaut32.dll .I will need to replace this file in the dos
mode since . I had try it on the safe mode in ms dos but
during the replacement, it said that the file is in use.
Probably it is a system file that why i can replace. But i
really need to replace this dll file inorder for my excel
to work. So how do i replace it ? I had the correct dll
file copy from the CD to c:\ drive. What I had done in the
dos mode is copy c:\oleaut32.dll c:\winnt\system32
What have i done wrong.

Tried using scannow, the sys file checker - see win help for syntax
Or, I believe a detect/repair of Office/Excell should also work. As should
an Office update
