How do I replace a print drive for shared printer? I
downloaded a new hp driver for my printer, but I can't
figure out how to install it. The setup utility wants to
install it as a local printer and it keeps asking me to
connect my printer to the computer.

What type of computer are you connecting to? If the "server" that is
sharing the printer is Windows XP, if you update the driver on the XP
"server" the driver will get copied down to any XP or Win2000 clients.

If the printer is on a printserver device that is also on your network use
the Add Driver Wizard on the Printers Folder.

Open the printers folders and select File, then Server Properties. There is
a Drivers tab. On this Tab there is a button to add a driver. When you get
to the "Printer Driver Selection" page of the wizard use the have disk
button and point to the location where you uncompressed the drivers that
were downloaded.

If the wizard cannot find an inf file for the device (check through the
directory structure, sometime there are a couple of directories when the
files are uncompressed), then you will need to contact HP.

I would reboot or stop and restart the print spooler service for the new
drivers to actually replace the other drivers that were loaded when the
spooler originally started..
