You mean alt-enters (to force new lines within cells)

Select the range to fix
edit|replace
what: ctrl-j
with: (space character???)
replace all

It may not look like the ctrl-j did anything, but give it a try.
 
That worked. Where do I find a list of keyboard combinations that represent
special characters in Excel?

I don't know of a list.

But you could open CharMap
Windows start button|Run|charmap|and hit enter
to see the codes for each character.

You could have used alt-0010 (on the numeric keypad) instead of ctrl-j, but
ctrl-j is easier to describe and easier to do.
