Replace Misspelled name on windows registration

how can I replace name in Documents and Settings and other places. I
misspelled my name on installation and now name is everywhere. I assume I
have to find all instances in regedit and replace?

Create a new user with the properly spelled name.
 
That (I do not think) will change the name of who the OS software is
registered to and all the instances in registry that have the misspelled name
as owner

First off - there should not be that many places in the registry where it is misspelled - unless you misspelled it multiple times during multiple installations of multiple applications. Do not confuse the registered owner/etc with the username/user's full name that pops up. For Example, If you have Microsoft Office 2003/2007 installed and have Multiple users - the user's profile holds a lot of that information - so creating a new user and properly spelling it will change many application's and how they refer to you as you utilize them.

It will create the proper C:\Documents and Settings\ profile directory and links/etc. You can manually copy the files from your desktop/my documents/favorites/etc of the old account to make sure you do not copy the settings - get files you created only. And no - there is not really a simpler/better way to do it than to create said user and copy your stuff over.

As for the registered owner/etc - that is purely cosmetic - but if it bothers you (and I assume since you know what to call it and you know how to Google search, you may have already found this...):
