In an situtation where data is exported from Access that
has fields with hard returns (carriage returns)when Excel
stores the field as a cell a box is displayed. I would
like to use the Replace function to remove the box and
leave the hard return. I have tried to discover the
character map (ALT + number) value but even though the
code function returns 13 for this character using this in
the replace function Excel does not find the character to
replace.--Jim

Jim,

When you enter the character in the Find/Replace box, hold down the alt key
and use the numeric keypad to enter 0013, and replace with 0010, also
entered using Alt and numeric keypad.

Also, make sure that it really is character 13....

Thank you Bernie for your reply. I tried as you had
suggested but I do not get any value from holding down the
Alt key while using the keypad to type in 0013 or 0010 in
the Find, then replace boxes.

I edited the data in a cell with the hard return to remove
all characters and spaces before the box image (hard
return). I used the =Code(cell reference) to determine
the code which Excel returned as 13.

If I hold the Alt key and use the keypad to input 13 and
10, the boxes display in the from and replace fields,
however Excel gives the message that Excel cannot find the
data I am searching for.

Thanks for your help.
Jim

Jim,

Send me a _small_ sample of your data in a _small_ workbook.

Deciphering my email is the entry test ;->
