I have a 40gb Harddrive which is gettin full and I want
to buy a bigger HD. Is there a way i can put the new
hard drive in and them just copy all the information from
my old one on to it ( or is that too simple to be
possible). Or do I have to re-install the operating
system and everything. I don't want to have to do this as
I have XP Upgraded from ME which will mean installing ME
then Upgrading to XP again. i took my nearly a month to
upgrade to XP before everything was working again, what
with the neverending search for drivers and patches etc).
Also will the new new harddrive affect my Xp activation
and stuff and things like that?
Hoping someone can help, as I really need it
:)

Using Norton Ghost 2003 or the hard drive manufacturer's utility, you can
clone the old hard drive to the new hard drive. Windows XP would not have
to be re-install/re-activated (personally experience).

Alsom if you use Ghost, make sure to specify the correct free space size
that the drive should have have the copy. If you do not, the partition on
the new drive will be the same size as to old hard drive. To fix this, you
will then need Partition Magic so as to expand the partition.
