Replace an element

I made an elaborate animation sequence of an object. Now I see that I
have to replace the object with another. I stand to lose the animation
sequence, ain't I? Is there an option/method to change the object
keeping the animation sequence intact?

I know you can replace an autoshape, but how can I replace an element
that is not autoshape.

Checkin,
Rather elaborate but you could do the following:
Save the presentation as a html file.
In the folder that has been created, replace the image with the animation
and replace it with the other image using the same file name.
Open the html file again and save it as a regular PPT file.
Or consider using this add-in which allows you to copy the animation from
one shape to the other:

Hello,

You would need a commercial tool to do this. For example:

Thanks Luc and Glen.
The HTML way seems to be working, but I'll definitely try and get the
add-in too.
