I have Windows XP Professional and an HP PSC2355 all-in-one Printer which is
hooked up to my PC via a usb port. I share this printer on my home network.
Up till recently everything worked fine but now everytime I start up my
computer it recognizes new hardware (the printer) and installs it as the new
preferred printer. Since the printer was already installed it adds the same
printer to my list of installed printers as copy 1, copy 2, etc. My network
users, of course, can no longer print until I install the new printer on
their pc.
How come Windows detects new hardware at startup although nothing has
changed in the hardware configuration and what to do to avoid this?
