Repeated USB mouse failures

One of the people in my office has been having issues with her computer
freezing out the mouse for several months now. We've switched USB
ports, we've switched mice, we've installed different software- all to
no avail. The mouse works fine for a week or two, or maybe less, and
then ceases to function despite everything else working. These mice
work just fine when we test them on other computers.

How do I isolate possible hardware failures that may be causing this?
What diagnostic do I need, or what setting do I check?

What mouse is it? Logitech? Microsoft?
And is there any support software for that mouse?

WHen you test the mouse on other systems that work ... do you test for a
week or two ... as is the case with the bad PC?
