I just bought a secondhand Kyocera FS-600, which came without toner, so
I also bought a brand new toner cartridge. The prints it produces are
good, except that there is a set of identical smudges at approx 1 1/2"
or 3cm intervals going vertically up the page, about a third of the way
in from the right hand side. Obviously something somewhere needs
cleaning, but I'm not sure what and I don't want to blunder in and mess
it up.
Any ideas?

On an old Kyocera I had there was a fuser wire towards the rear paper exit
which always became dusty or smeared. It is quite delicate but can be
cleaned with a cotton bud and alcohol. For the life of me I can't remeber
where - but if you follow the path from toner which adheres to the
magnetised characters the fuser heats and fixes the passing paper. At the
rear low down and very thin.
