OK Folks... I'm working on a huge soeradsheet with ouver
100,000 client accounts. Each account has it's own
unique number. The hitch I am running to is that they
all have one of two possible extension at the end of
their account number.

For example if an account number was 456789123 it might
have one of two possible extensions - either CF0001 or
CR0001. In the end the accound would read
456789123CF0001... or something like that. My question
is how do I create a short cut to avoid entering CF0001
or CR0001 over one hundred thousand times? I tried
creating a macro for it but when it's used, it deletes
all other information in the cells.

Any suggestions for a work around or other possible
solution?

Rob,

Have you investigated using a separate column to enter the extension.
You could then use data validation to ensure only CF001 or CR001 i
entered, by enforcing a dropdown selection option

it. The problem is that it was our head office that sent
down the sheet and they tend to be pretty territorial
when it comes to mofifying it by adding extra columns.

Below is the text from your original posting.

My question is: What criteria would determine whether the extension would be
CF0001 or CR0001?
