Hi, I'm having repeated freeze ups of my explorer window in my WinXP Pro
installation especially while I'm trying to browse files on the hard drive.
I beleiev the problem started when I was installing my Palm Sync software
(which I've now removed) but I still get the problem. Any way to reinstall
the explorer.exe or reset it to work around this?

Thanks
Sonny

Hi,

Have you tried using the System Restore to a point when
you know the machine was ok ?

Tim

I did, but all I get is a message that say ":System Restore was unable to
restore your System to the date specified", it appears no matter what system
restore point is selected.

Actually I did a little poking around and noticed that when I hit "My
Computer" the first time after startup it open no problems, but when I lcick
on any of the drives (DVD or HD) the windows freezes up, and the CPU Usage
sores to 100% and remains there. As soon as I close the window the CPU
Usage drops back to like 3% and everything is fine. I can also run any
software (ie Office or Photoshop and no probs) CPU usage remains below 100%.
This is only happening with explorer.exe any ideas to solve it?
