Alice B.

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro; when I try to start the
computer, it runs normally through the process until it
reaches the splash screen (hope that's the right name;
it's where the Windows 2000 Pro logo and the bar
underneath where the blue boxes show the progress), then
there is a very fast blue screen with a message that
flashes (too fast to read, doesn't even stay up a
second). The computer then shuts down and restarts, and
the whole process continues. It won't start up in Safe
Mode, either. Will someone please help me with this?

Look in the Control Panel | Systems | Advanced | Start Up and Recovery
button and uncheck automatically reboot

Hi Alice,

Without more information it is impossible to help other than to point you to the
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles. KB266465 explains how to perform a
parallel installation. After you do that use the steps in KB174630 to disable the
Automatically Reboot option in your non-booting Windows 2000 installation. Like
dcdon said, after following those steps you may be able to gather information from
the STOP error message that will help you resolve the problem.
