Repeated chkdsk scans at bootup

My wife's laptop (Vista home) has taken to doing repeated chkdsk scans at
boot up, usually after it has been hibernated.

If it wasn't finding anything I wouldn't mind so much but it is repeatedly
finding these orphan files (see image) so I'm guessing something is going
wrong with the hibernation process.

I *had* deleted the hibernation files in an effort to clean up the hard
drive and rid it of a particularly troublesome virus
(win32:Adloader-ac[trj]) but I found out how to restore it and hibernation
is now available as an option. I'm 99% certain that the virus is now
history.

Anyway, the orphaned files seem to be font files so probably not too serious
but I'd like to know why these font files keep getting orphaned. and how to
fix it.

Could be a symptom of a failing disk? Identify the disk manfacturer
using Device Manager and download their diagnostic (burn to CD).

Try this:
1. click on your start menu and open the run dialog.
2. type "cmd" and return (note: don't enter quotes)
3. Next type " fsutil dirty query c: " (where c is your drive letter.)
4. If the return message indicates that the volume is dirty go to step 5
5. Next type "chkdsk c: /f /x"
6. After that finshes repeat step 3.
7. If it is no longer dirty then reboot and you should notice no more chkdisk.
 
Hey Tim... I found the same virus on my computer, try to delete it through
avast and it shows right up again. It seems to be in the pagesys file. Is
this where you found the trj? Did deleting the hibernation files work for
you?
