One of my DCs, of course the one connected via the T1 and not via the 100MB,
has its application log full of 1202 errors:
Security policies are propagated with warning. 0x4b8: An extended error has
occurred.
Checking out the KB, (837166) I find that it's due to editing the GPOs with
my XP workstation with GPMC, without having Service Pack 2 installed on the
PC yet.
Microsoft has a hotfix for the XP box. I installed that. Microsoft says
use XP SP2 - well, in a month or so we'll go to that. Microsoft says use
2003 DCs. Don't have one yet.
My question is this - since my editing the GPO from my workstation broke
this, and I know have the hotfix installed on my computer, should this go
away? Or is there an active thing I need to do to make this go away? If I
install a 2003SP1 DC, will it fix this even though the DC in question is a
W2k SP4 DC? Or do I need to upgrade all of my DCs to make this go away?
Any one have any experience with this one? Is there something that worked,
or will it just go away in time, as I upgrade all of the DCs?
Is the policy still propagating to client workstations? That's my biggest
worry, that the policy is incompletely propagating.
Thanks,
Rich
