I'm hoping someone can help. I have a problem with my XP
installation and I'm using the recovery disk to restart
and hopefully repair XP. The problem is that the disc
propmts me for my administrator password before it will
proceed. It's so long since I needed it that I have
forgotten the password. Can anyone suggest a way that I
can get around this step so that I can fix my PC?

maybe you can reset the password to something you know?
you do have administrator priviligies dont you?

Hi,

Usually a recovery CD cannot be used for repair XP.
Instead, you should use it to rebuild the OS but in this
way, you would lose all the data files unless they are
all stored on other partition(s) other than the C drive.
I would advise you to contact the support team of the PC
manufacturer before taking any action.

BTW, what is your problem that you need to reinstall XP?
Pls post back so that someone may help you.

Peter
