In re. the rift between Microsoft and Sun Microsystems, I
cleaned out all the Java programs, files, etc., I could
find in my computer but apparently deleted a Microsoft
Java file or two. I want to "repair", and reinstall, the
MS Java by using the XP Home installation CD, but there
is no "repair" option on the XP Home CD menu --
only "install".

My question is, can I "install" from the CD, and thereby
pick up the deleted MS Java files, without creating other
problems?

Thanks!

Donald,
Just curious ... why did you think you needed to remove these Java programs?

.To restore space on the hard drive. I removed them
after replacing <applet> code with <object> code for a
text scroll on a web site and, after weeks of trying to
get the latter to work properly, I called it quits and
purged all the bloody Java I could find. Java programs
have great application, but MS, IE browser and the simple
applet I needed were at odds. Same source code worked
perfectly with Netscape, but with IE failing it, I
couldn't use it.
