No, due to the method of installation that Vista uses, you can not do a "Repair"
install of Vista. You can do an in-place upgrade, where you "upgrade" vista as
if you were upgrading XP, or possibly use the repair tools from booting from the
DVD, but there isn't a repair install function.

I've never upgraded to XP from 9x. I only did clean installs.

So, what you are saying is that if I insert the Vista DVD, I can "upgrade"
the existing Vista OS which is on a separate partition?

This is the same as a repair installation in XP?

Hi - is the Repair install function of Vista the same as XP Pro Retail?

According to my experience: No.

I installed Vista Beta 2 on one of my computers with a Vista Beta 2
installation and pointed to the partition where Vista already was, and
the installer put the 'old' Vista into a folder named 'Windows.old'.

No repair install was offered.

You'll only have that option if setup is run from within Vista and it is the
same architecture (x86 with x86, x64 with x64)
