I know this topic has been thrashed to death but please.............?
I have been involved in setting up a two computer network with one as server
& other feeding off it.
After getting everything up & running with clean installs of XP Pro, I
discover that the OLD program designed for '95 & '97 office will not run on
XP Pro SP2 but will on XP Pro. (without SP2) I'm not sure if it will run on
XP SP1 but I think so.
The problem has to do with mergeing data from database & printing with Word
(Office 2003).
I've been advised by the software company to go back to XP Pro SP1.
The computers were installed with SP2 "slipstreamed".
I've tried doing a "repair install" before and have always lost my
favorites, all programs listed in programs list as well as all needed
entries for installed programs & have had to re-install all these "other"
programs anyway.
OK, so My Docs folder remains untouched.
Can it be done without these symptoms?
If not I'll just format & reinstall with my plain XP Pro disc. (no SP2)
Previously I've followed MichaelStevens' step by step instructions.
