How does one repair UE in XP?

IN WinME wecould go to Add/Remove Programs and go on from there.

Regards

Thanks for your help Will.

Went through the article. This one may be too much for someone like me who
is not a geek and taking the first steps into XP. If you can guide me with
the steps to take in order, I would like to do it. I couldn't see anything
there about repairing IE. Tried the first step:
Use the System File Checker tool to scan all of the protected files on your
computer:
1.. Click Start, and then click Run.
2.. In the Open box, type sfc /scannow, and then click OK.
It took a few minutes and when the progress bar reached the end, the box
disappeared with no indication of any problem or not. So I though I would
need further advise.
TIA

Hi

If sfc /scannow reports no errors, then your problem lies elsewhere. What
problems have you got with IE?

Basically, it was wonderful in WinME IE6 that we could repair IE 6 by going
to ADD/REMOVE Programs and take it from there. But that is not so in XP!! So
is there some not too difficult and quick way to repair IE in XP?

Secondly I am getting this error:
"Error saving web page.
This web page could not be saved."

On the sites I could save last week, now I can't. Something has gone wrong.
I hope you would have a fix..
TIA

Hi

IE 6 in ME & IE 6 in XP differ in that - the version in ME could be
'downgraded' to an earlier version - in XP it can't be - only 'upgraded'.

As for saving web pages - have you changed any settings/options in IE since
last week?

No. I'm so new to XP that I dare not change anything yet. But you do have a
point there. Something could have changed due to other reasons. I say that
because there are also times when I cannot download ordinary web pages. I do
hope you can bear with me and guide me where and what to look.
TIA
