I wanted to repair using windows CD and booted to the CD
and went through all the data just to get to "inter
password", I did and it declares it is not correct, I am
the adminstrator, I went back to windows and chose to
delete my password and retry, same thing, what in the
worls is gong on when the owner can't even repeir his
very own computer, is there any help on this subject
please....Marvin

There is no one else that uses my computer, it is at
home, my personal computer, I wish there was a way to do
away with all the logon nonsense because I have nothing I
do not want anyone to see, I just want control of the
computer I paid for, is there a way I beg?

Hi Marvin,

have you tried Username: Administrator and leaving Password field blank? Try
with some other passwords that you might have set...

If I remember correctly. The password that is required is the
"Administrator" account password originally used when you installed the
operating system. If it is anything like Windows 2000 Server and Active
Directory, this password does not change even if you change the
"Administrator" account password after the install. If your particular
account has administrator priviledges, that is not enough. The password is
for "the" Administrator.

Hi Shane,

Windows XP Recovery console is current local administrator password. So if
you change the local admin password also recovery console password changes.

You probably mixed this with Active Directory restore mode. That password
could not be changed (and was the same for recovery console on AD server).
This "issue" was addressed in SP2 where you could change password for Active
Directory Restore Mode and Recovery console. For this you can use setpwd
utility on Windows 2000 SP2...

I had a similar problem with my laptop I had to take it
apart and remove this little battery inside and leave it
out for about 10 minutes (I also removed the main
battery). When I put it all back together (only one
leftover screw!!) and booted up, no more password prompt.
Good luck.
