Some bad blocks developed on system disk and now Win2K won't boot any
longer. Some 45 secs down the boot process (assume shortly before logon
screen), a blue screen shows up, but only for about 1/10 sec so it's
unreadable. The system reboots, and this keeps going on & on.
Tried to repair using the install CD, but when setup looks for the location
of Windows it doesn't find it. Message says: Setup program does not detect a
previous installation.
Anyone who knows what criteria are used to determine the presence of
Windows? Is it just 1 file? The Winnt and usual subdirs are present, but
maybe just that crucial file may be deleted or corrupt.
Any suggestions more than welcome
