How do I rearrange my fields into a different order in the same table
thank you again everyone for all your help

Hi Zena,

1. Open the table in design view (you will first need to close any queries, forms, &
reports that are open and draw data from said table).

2. Hover your mouse over the little gray square in the left-most column, for the field
that you wish to re-position. Click the left mouse button and release to select the "row".
You may see a black arrow pointing towards the right. You should see the Field Name, Data
Type and Description cells selected.

Note: If you see arrows pointing up & down, with a horizontal black bar in-between (ie.
resizing handle), then you need to try again. Aim your mouse pointer closer to the center
of the gray square.

3. Click and hold your left mouse button down without releasing it. You should see a
very faint gray rectangle at the end of the mouse pointer. Drag the field to the new
desired position. You should see a thin horizontal black line that indicates where the
field will end up when you release your mouse button.

4. Click on the Save toolbar button (or click on File > Save, or press Ctrl S)

5. Open the table in datasheet view.

Note: You can also drag fields (columns) in datasheet view to new locations, but I do not
recommend using this method. It can become somewhat confusing when the order shown in
datasheet view does not match the order shown in design view, especially in cases where
captions have been used to "mask" the true field names.
