Hi,

Just got a new pc and don't know if it's been set-up right because when I go
to rename a new Word document I get an error message about changing the .doc
file extension, so I have to rename it and make sure the .doc is at the end.
This isn't right as I never had to to do this before. Does anyone know how to
sort this out?

Cheers.

Not to worry. Windows usually hides those extensions at the end, but your PC
is set to show them. Just open up Folder Options in control panel, and on
the View tab, check the box that says "Hide Extentions for Known File Types".
Then you won't see, and won't be able to rename, the .doc or other file
extentions.

Brian,

Check the following:
Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options.
Click on the View tab.
Make sure there's a check mark in the box next to "Hide
extensions for known file types".
Click OK.

Good luck
