renaming MSN Messenger

I have added contacts but some of my contact names don't mean a thing to me. Some
of them have used changed their names like "I'm a Frontpage User and always will be"
which appears on my main contact list. I have to put the cursor over it to display the
tooltip which tells me their email address.

I would like to rename the contact if this as possible in MSN/Windows Messenger?

Lets you change the names of people on your list and
heaps of other cool things.. It appears as extra on the
toolbar at the top of MSN or Windows Messenger

You can't change the name in Messenger itself, but you can use a third-party addition, which
Cam has already mentioned to change the names to what you desire. However, to go into more
detail, after installation of Messenger Plus, open up the main Messenger window, click the
Plus! menu, then Preferences,
under Contact List, choose Custom Names. Please note that this feature in Messenger Plus!
also requires MSN Messenger 6 and will not work in previous Messenger versions.
