The real question, which I left out of my first post:
will renaming the drives (boot drive 0, second 120G drive
1, and the 200G 2) help with my speed problem? If so, how
do I go about renaming without compromising data, or
paths?

Thanks again for any help.

NO. The name of the drive has nothing to do with its speed..
Speed problems are typically caused by the slowest (oldest) drive on the
cable (assuming IDE). The solution is to isolate slow drives to one
cable(controller) and put the fast drives on the other.
I always put my optical drives on one controller and my HD's on the other.
Then again you could use SCSI and get some real speed (at the risk of
getting flamed)..
