Renaming a Windows 2000 Server

Is there any problem with my changing the name of a
Windows 2000 Server? It was a Domain Controller, but now
it is a member server. It will be in the same domain. I
want to give it a name that is more apprpriate to it's new
location.
 
Since it is a member server, there is no problem renaming the server, make
sure you look at any logon scripts that may point to that server's old name.

I have found that the old server name still shows up in my
Symantec software. Actually, both servers show up. There
is an indication that the newly-named server is not
registered. It is possible to access the server with both
names and scan them. Should I just delete the old server
name? Should I have gone through a registration process?
