don't think you can rename recycle bin...system folder.
have u tried in display-themes if it has (modified)
pick [save as] button and save to file (xxx.theme)

I had a similar problem trying to get My Computer to stayed renamed and not
revert to it's default setting.
Fixed it for good by using the Rename Desktop Icons utility - a 36K free
download from http://www.dougknox.com/
Goto WinXP Utilities and you'll find it there.

Sadly, Martin, I've had two recent reports of the names changing back, even
with my utility. The name changes have stuck on my computer, so I'm still
looking into why.

Run this edit. Once done, go to Windows Explorer, scroll down to the
Recycle Bin, highlight it then go to File/Rename.

there is no right mouse click menu with rename.
nothing in properties to rename.
you can <change> the icon in display-desktop-customize
but you have to save the theme at theme tab. pick [save
as] button.
