For technical reasons, we would like to rename our AD
domain name. Is this possible ? If so how can we
proceed ?

TIA

If you are in Windows 2000 native mode you cannot rename the domain. The
only option would be to upgrade to Windows Server 2003 and use the domain
rename tools available in that OS.

If you are still in mixed mode there is a complex procedure involving the
use of an NT BDC that can in theory allow you to rename the domain, although
I would never risk it. http://support.microsoft.com/?id=292541

Another option is to install a brand new domain using the correct name and
then use ADMTv2 to migrate all your accounts over.

None of these options is easy, you may be best to just stick with what
you've got. Also investigate using UPN's to log on which may trick the users
into thinking the domain name had been changed. Depending on your
circumstances, this may be good enough.

Now it is possible to rename domain (in forest 2003 native mode) with
Exchange 2003 + SP1 + updated version of domain rename recently posted on MS
website.
