Rename shared printer in WinXP Pro

I am having some issues renaming a shared printer in Windows XP. I
have connected a Dymo Labelwriter 330 to one WinXP box via USB, and
want to be able to print to it from another box. This is not that big
of an issue, I am able to print from various programs and do test
prints and whatnot. The issue is, the program I need to print from
requires the name of the printer to be "Dymo Labelwriter 330", not
"Dymo Labelwriter 330 on SharedComputer"

From doing my research, I am pretty sure there is no way to rename a
network printer from within 2K/XP. So my question is, is this a lost
cause, or is there someway to create a virtual port directly to the
networked printer.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

As a work around you can do the following:

Assume you have the lable printer installed on the "Server"(your windows XP box, this will actually be the name of your server box) and shared out with the share name "Dymo".

From your Client computer (the one you want to print from).

1) Install the drivers locally on the client computer
2) Either when asked for a port, or after installed change the port
3) Create a new "local port"
4) When asked for the port type: "\\Server\Dymo"

This will render all the printing on your client computer and send it as RAW data to the server. You may see some minor performance loss, but it should get around your problem of being able to rename the printer.
