Can I rename contacts names the way "I" want them instead of using
their names...?

Greetings Howard,

You cannot directly edit the names of contacts on your contact list with just Messenger,
however, by using a third-party addition called Messenger Plus you can add this
functionality. To do so, install Messenger Plus from here: http://www.msgplus.net. After
installation, open up the main Messenger window, click the Plus! menu, then Preferences,
under Contact List, choose Custom Names. Please note that this feature in Messenger Plus!
also requires MSN Messenger 6 and will not work in previous Messenger versions.

Hi Howard9,

Yes it does have spyware, but only if you told it to install it during the setup. During the
Messenger Plus setup, it specifically asks if you wish to install its "sponsor" program (this
is regardless whether you use the Custom or Express install options).

Just uninstall Messenger Plus, then run Adware and/or Spybot to remove this
(http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download,
http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?lang=en&page=download respectively), and then install Plus
again, this time making sure not to select the option to install the sponsor program.
