Please help me remove XP Professional from my laptop. I'd
like to replace it with XP HOme. Will installing XP Home
automatically replace XP Professional and all of it's
security; admin. password requirements, etc.? Thank you.

Why? Are you aware that Home is a subset of Professional? There's
nothing in Home that's not also alike in Professional.

The only way to do this is to reformat and install Home, so the
answer is necessarily yes.

Pat,
That is not a real good choice. Admin, passwords, etc all exist in Home
also. There is more security in Pro , but for the better, it's a better OS.
Period. I think you should try to get familiar with it a little more.

Pro a better OS. You're talking through your hat.
Different-slightly. Better-depends on what you are using
the OS for. Pro is better for larger server apps and LAN
setups but HE is every bit as good for the stand alone
user. The added expense is not worth it for my money.
There is little PRO can do that HE can't. HE can even be
configured for IIS if you know how. Good luck.

You are making more work for yourself which is totally unnecessary as Pro
and Home are nearly the same.

Not to mention the fact that changing the OS would probably void the
warranty.

Why? They're exactly the same apart from some minor security and
networking functions.

That may be, and if so it's a reasonable thing to do.

On the other hand, there are those who mistakenly believe that
they will improve something or other by doing this, which is why
I asked.
