Can anyone help please?

How can I disable (remove) the WinXP built in CD-RW utility? I have Nero
on my desktop machine (Win98SE) and want to use the same CD-RW on both
desktop and laptop (WinXP) but the indexing/file formats or whatever are
causing problems when switching between the two. I want to get rid of the
WinXP one and put Nero on in its place.

Thanks very muchly

my computer | right-click the CDRW drive icon | properties | CD RW
Tab | check "disable" (or uncheck "enable"; whatever!).

Installing Nero should do this for you tho...

No, installing Nero will in no way disable it. the two can be used together
if you wish with no problems.

Thanks for that - I always get nervous about messing with the registry!

Thanks for the response Chris, and the earlier one too. I mainly want to
use the Nero InCD packet writing add-on. Do you know if this will be OK
as well as the main Nero program?

Thanks again.

Yes inCD will work fine with Windows XP. Get atleast versin 3.21 which is
included with Nero 6 and 5.5
