we'll will you may find this stupid but im going from pro to home ..i have a
trial version of pro, and a brand new version of home, ...but it wont let me
install home because its not an upgrade...so i need to remove pro compleatly
to put home on..how would i do that?...

Hi

If you are going from Home to Pro, you will need to perform a 'Clean'
install of XP, which will mean everything will lost including any data files
you have created - they will need to be backed up for use at a later time.
Please have a look at the following article by Michael Stevens regarding a
'Clean' install of XP:

"Clean Install Windows XP "

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions here:
http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

or here http://windowsxp.mvps.org/XPClean.htm

or here http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/clean_install.htm

thx for the help Will i finally got it...all i had to do was go into bios and
make my cd drive boot first lol..then it was step by step from there.

Glad you've sorted things out.

Insert your new xp disc in cd rom drive and restart your comp. Then take it
from there. It will ask you later in the installation if you want to "install
on highlighted partition" press yes and it will say there is already a OS on
that partition, dont bother with that just say you want to install it on
highlighted partition
