Removing Vista Beta 2, will wait for RC 1

Vista Beta 2 proved to be a very interesting experience. I was able to send
several suggestions and incidence reports to Microsoft using the Vista
Reporting Tool.

However, I find that boot times seem to be getting longer for every boot, by
the boot, and exploring the system now seems to make it hang. I can open
Explorer or Computer and they do spring up almost instantly - however,
navigating to any folder now seems to take longer and longer every time.

I cannot explain this, but the size of the system itself seems to be growing
every day though I have not added any new software or stored additional
documents on the system drive.

Without the page file (being located on a physically separate drive), the
system size is now over 16 GB. About a half of this seems to be in the
WinSxS directory. I cannot browse the myriad sub-directories here as the
system hangs when I open this directory.

The only software on this system include Firefox, Acronis TrueImage 8,
WinDVD 7, MS Office 2003, and general utilities as Ad-Aware, WinRAR, Adobe
Reader, and so on.

Regretfully, the novelty seems to have worn off somewhat with this
sluggishness and unexplained obesity.

I will restore this test machine to the Windows XP Pro originally on it
(stored in an offline Acronis image file) and return to Vista when the RC 1
comes out. I understand this may be sometime next month.

Thanks and regards to the help I have received from these newsgroups during
my Vista experience in dealing with little things I needed advice on.

You all are a group of wonderful people here!

Cheers.

Sorry to see you go. Good luck, and don't forget the restore MBR option,
since Vista changed it.

Haven't used Acronis, but Drive Image, Ghost have an option to restore the
MBR when restoring a drive.
