of the Vista RC1? It is really annoying!

Best regards

Hi,

You don't, it's hard coded and will be removed only for the final release
version. It's been this way throughout the beta, same as it was for XP.

You can't. It's hardcoded.

You're second one I've seen in this NG asking how to remove this info
from desktop. But first poster at least had a real reason for that. But
"annoyng"? What can be annoying in this barely-visible text that is
covered by Windows Sidebar by default anyway?..

I was running one Vista build with no version info on the screen (don't know
how I did it or which build - either Pre-RC1, RC1 or RC12 5728). One day I
switched my PC on and there was no build ID on the desktop!

What I find annoying is when I canet read the last couple of numbers for the
build number because of the side bar. At least I have a second monitor what
displays it well.

And why is my keyboard suddenly Cyrillic Question mark should go here but I
get a E instead.

What is annoying to one may not be annoying to another
I have removed it from the last 3 build versions - my choice

Sure. I just wonder HOW it can be annoying...

I have a solid black desktop - nothing on it - I like "neat and clean"

Yeah, thats exactly what i am talking about. I dont like
anything on my desktop left, except the mouse cursor
hovering on it. I am a professional Developer and this
is also one of my major goals when i develop Application
and Apps with even no UI like Services, Drivers, etc.
Everything has to be clear, expressive and clean! This is
why i dont like any build numbers and additional version
on my desktop. It has to be "clean". I hope, you know
what i mean now...

Anyway thanks for all the information here...

Best regards
