I would like to go back to the XP boot-up flash screen with my name only
without having a password. I were to uninstall Microsoft Power Toy Tweak
UI, will it go back to the Xp log in screen? I can not remember my
password. Or can I delete the password?

Thank you,
David

Hi David,

Removing TweakUI should not remove the stored credentials from the registry. However, it's suggested that you reset your user account password as you've forgotten it.

As you're able to login to your system using automatic logon feature, open a Command Prompt (cmd.exe) window once logged on, and then type the following command:

NET USER <USERNAME> <NEWPASSWORD>

Example:

NET USER GLENN MYPASSW0RD

Note: After changing the password, you need to enter new credentials for automatic logon. See:

No, uninstalling TweakUI won't have any effect on this. TweakUI is really
just a convenient way to change settings, it does not store the settings.
You can make all the same changes without it.

If you want to go back to the Start screen, just open TweakUI and turn off
AutoLogon.

To remove or change your password - removing it isn't a good idea - go to
Control Panel, Users.

By default and for security reasons, the Windows Scheduler requires a
password for scheduled tasks run on local user accounts. So if you remove
your password, you may find that things like scheduled virus scans or
backups suddenly don't run. You can change this default behaviour, but
again, it's not a good idea.
