Hello,

I would like to ask you if it is possible completely to remove the
built-in Access command bar (File, Edit, View...) and to display only
my own command bars in the MDE file I create for my colleagues. I know
that I can forbid displaying built-in command bars but the main
command bar seems resistent to me.

Thanks in advance.

Milan,

You should be able to create your own custom menu bar and
use it as an alternative to the built-in menu bar. Once
you have created your custom menu bar, go into
Tools/Startup... and then change the Menu Bar combo box
from "(default)" to your custom menu bar.

Dear Mike,

many thanks for your answer, it works perfectly! I have one additional
question. Is it possible to remove from my own main command-bar (it´s
the only command-bar of the application in fact) the text-box for MS
Access Help on the right side and the in-built icon on the left side
of the bar? And can I also remove min, max and close buttons from the
right side of the bar?

Many thanks once more!

Milan,

Built-in menu bars are not modifiable. However, you can
replace them with virtually identical menu bars that you
design and control.

The only icon that I have seen display near the menu bar
is the MS Access application icon. You can change the
Application icon in Tools/Startup... You will just need
to find an alternative .ico file. You can also check the
box to make this same icon appear on your forms and
reports. If you have Office XP installed, you can
probably find the MSN butterfly icon here to use for
testing:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\MSN.ICO

Dear Mike,

many thanks for your answer. I have created my own command-bar and
removed the build-in main menu bar (File, Edit, View...) called "Menu
Bar". My own command-bar is the only command-bar of the application
now. The icon of the application and the text-box for Access help was
automatically added to this command-bar but I do not want to have them
there. If I understand you well it is possible to remove these
additional controls. Can you please tell me how?

Thank you very much for your kind help!

Milan,

Sorry, I misunderstood.

While editing your custom menu bar in Customize, right
mouse click on the unwanted text box. A popup menu should
dislay. Uncheck the "Show Ask A Question Box". The text
box will still exist, but will no longer display in the
menu bar.

As for the icon, I just ran a test and no icon displays on
my own custom menu bar. The only icon I can see displays
in the blue shaded area at the top of the Access window.
I'm running AXP, so perhaps my version runs slightly
different than yours.

The application icon is controlled/replaced via Startup.
If there is an icon displaying in your custom menu bar,
then I don't know how to affect it.

Dear Mike,

thanks a lot, it helped me. The icon of the application near the left
border of my own command-bar did not disappear but it does not matter.
It is important that the "Ask a Question" box dissapeared.
