Removing servers from replication

I have a client that has 3 offices with 2 servers in each office. They all
replicate with Active Directory. One of the offices is closing March 1st, and
I was wondering what the correct way was to remove the 2 servers from
replication.

Thanks,

Run DCPROMO.EXE on each server to remove it from AD as a domain controller
and reboot when indicated, then disjoin each PC from the domain. This
process will properly clean up DNS entries and AD replication schemes. This
assumes that the primary DNS server for the AD domain is not on one of the
two servers to be demoted, if it is you'll need to bring up another DNS
server and make it the primary DNS server for the domain.

You may first wish to transfer any necessary FSMO roles to a server of your
choice, and must be sure that at least one Global Catalog server will remain
after these two servers are demoted.

Read about FSMO roles here:

and Global Catalogs here:

Thanks for the reply!

The 2 servers are NOT in the main office, they are in a smaller office that
will be closing at the end of February, so DCPROMO will be perfect!

Thanks again!
