Recently I upgraded my CPU&Motherboard from an Intel based
solution to a AMD based one. I wanted to keep all my
Windows XP programs and settins so I did a Repair Install
so that XP could detect and load new drivers for the board
and cpu. Everything went as planned except for one
thing..the NIC (Realtek8139) was unbound..so i had to bind
it again and feed the static IP in again...but in doing so
XP tells me that there is allready an NIC with same IP
address which is disabled...and renames my newly bound NIC
as #2NIC. My question is how do I get rid of the old NIC
from the registry (i.e. #1NIC).

Your help/tips would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi,

Sounds like the devices are "hidden", see 269155 Error Message When You Try
to Set an IP Address on a Network Adapter
